Welcome to Karen's Climb page. Thanks for stopping in to see how the 2004 Climb to Fight Breast Cancer has gone. I am excited about not only the climb, but being able to give so much (with the help of all of you) to finding a cure. I figure, I have walked for a cure, why not try climbing for one?

Personally, I know several strong women who have won the fight and another who was not able to. And, it is even more personal to think that the possibility is pretty darn great that the disease will affect me or others who are dear to me sometime in the future.

I will be climbing with the inspiration of the following women:

Clara Johnson
Grace Gerren

Mt. Rainier is a dormant volcano offering one of America's most distinguished climbs. Originally named Tahoma, or "Great Snowy Peak" by the Yakima Indians, the mountain is encompassed by 36 square miles of glacial ice. I was part of a four day summit climb by way of the Emmons Glacier Route, July 4th through 7th. The guides for our summit were from Alpine Ascents, an internationally- recognized guiding service based here in Washington. They are great folks with a lot of experience guiding mountains from Rainier to Kilimanjaro.

To those of you who have contributed, THANK YOU! Each member of my Rainier summit team was committed to raising a minimum of $4,000 for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Warmly,
Karen Reise
